Passenger Seat Radio Episode 2020-07-18

Hello everybody this is Shane R. Monroe you're in the passenger seat with me passenger seat radio. It's July 18 2020 and I am picking up takeout food for my family and I was told by my listeners who my listen that you hear the styrofoam squeaking back there sorry but you would prefer 10 minute shows over no shows. So I am on my way back from cotton bars where you know pay so much get it pay so yeah, that's their job. Let me see if I can move it so stop squeaking Yeah, that was there a joke on the Billboard you know pay so much. So. Meanwhile, you know, I can't have a Indian maiden on my butter. But anyway, I guess it's okay if you're poking fun at yourself, right? That's all it's all good. Anyway, so I'm gonna run through the carwash I guess and bias a few more minutes. It is Saturday. I am not working today, which is always nice. I spent my morning putting my loot crates back together so I could put them back out in the shed. I decided to make a supplementary video featuring me and Brian playing many of the handheld toys and electronics and I was able to get working or test out so be looking for that I should have that up probably by probably sometime today I would imagine. So that'll be cool. Had some had some fun with that got to open that x game 360 up and we took a look at the function, the handheld stuff so that's fun. That'll be fun. You guys are like that. I also have taken the advice of so many of you and invested in some lighting. So I now have three different lights. I have a selfie ring light that I'm using for my center lights and I've got two essentially those reflective lights that you see from a you know in a photography studio. And I paired that with the overhead light in the kitchen to kind of fill. And I think that the lighting looks pretty good. And you'll be able to see that on the new video. They're working on some branding from an RO world's YouTube site. I paid for a professionally made intro, which will be accompanying my review of the quest game in death, which is coming out on the 23rd I got an advanced copy. And I'm under embargo not to talk about it. So I'm not going to talk about it but I've been gathering assets and shooting videos and doing my write ups and everything else on that. So have that to look forward to it. I will have that new intro. The new Monroe world intro on this. On this supplemental video, we'll have that on there. So you will get that not too many people at the carwash. You're going to miss a couple more minutes of Show. I'm not going to sit in that line. absolutely ridiculous. Crazy. People are crazy. Well, I guess I was going to go get a carwash too. So I shouldn't be calling them crazy for waiting in line for a carwash when I was going to do it. What else is going on? Um, so we have opted my son into 100% remote learning, at least for the first semester. Unfortunately, I don't get that option with my wife. So while my son is at least somewhat protected, as long as my wife is not, we are still in crisis mode in my house. I'm close to asking my wife to quit. I don't want her at this. I don't want her in the schools. I do not want her in there. They cannot make it safe. I don't want her in there. But unfortunately, since she's already signed her contract for this year, if she breaks that contract, they can revoke her teaching license and she'll never be able to teach in the state again, about that. So basically March off to the petri dish and probably get Coronavirus or never work in the state again, sounds like a great set of options or leadership is provided for us. Whatever. We'll figure it out. Anyhow, what else has been going on? I'm spending a lot of time with the the branding stuff. For Monroe world, I kind of came up with a new logo. Yeah, kind of fun. But I said, I'm doing you know, I have been researching this new documentary I'm putting together and I've done a lot. Oh my god, there's so much research to be done. It's again, I'm not going to tell you what that project is. It's sort of a surprise. But as I'm waiting for all the equipment and stuff that I've purchased to show up, which will be next week, I'm patiently and patiently putting together my dialogue. And part of the reason I bought the lights and everything else was to to really be able to give this little mini documentary the attention it deserves. And I'm finding as I'm doing more and more research, I'm realizing there's less and less on the topic. Then I was hoping so I'm having to do deeper research and and what do they call that associative research to better fill this show out and to give a better background. So I said I'm putting a lot of time into it. I've probably put, I don't know, four or five hours into research already. And then I've done several hours of writing because I'm actually scripting this this will be a scripted documentary. So very exciting. So I'm just I'm waiting for stuff to get here. And once everything's assembled, I should have my script together by then and we'll shoot it. So I am excited excited. So let's see got a couple more minutes before I make it home trying to think of what else has been going on. Haven't been really watching much Oh my. My region to have bad dreams came in and it features three very nice interviews. I've watched two of the three skim the third one just a little bit. This is a blu ray import from region two. It's weird. It comes in this It comes in a red case, it looks like HD DVD. But the quality is very nice. I went ahead and did all of my ripping already. It's going up on Plex later today. And the interviews are with the director Andrew Fleming who also did the craft, which makes a lot of sense to me. And a couple of bunch of other movies too, but the craft really stuck out to me. And then Jennifer Rubin the actress who was starring in that movie as well as the, the bad chick from Nightmare on Elm Street, three of which the movies are constantly compared. That is also part of the documentary they talk or I'm sorry, though, interviews, they talk a lot about that. And the the author was actually you know, it's funny, the director was also one of the script writers and he was saying, you know, It's inevitably there compared because Jennifer Rubens in both and they really do sort of have a similar similar sort of vibe to it. But for him for Andrew Fleming, he really wanted to tap into the craziness of the cult culture at the end of the 60s and early 70s, the the Jim Jones and the Charles Manson and to him I mean, he said something to the effect of he actually walked by one of these compounds like every day going to school so he had sort of a weird sort of personal connection to it. And you know, Richard Lynch had actually been burned in a real fire you know, Richard Lynch is the actor who plays the burned up cult leader in bad dreams. And he had actually been burned by fire. I mean, that's why he's so that's why the guys all fucked up looking in real life, not just for the movie. And the director shared an interesting story that on the first day of shoot, when Hang on a second, I'm trying to merge lane, turn away. There's so many goddamn people on the road right now but there are when they were when they were going to do the first shoot Hey turbo, what's up? The So Richard Lynch had gotten into full makeup you know, he's a burned up crispy corpse right now in the movie. And so when he so they went looking for him it was a it was you know, the set was up and everybody was ready to shoot. And Richard Lynch hadn't come out of his trailer. And Andrew Fleming had gone into the guy's trailer, and he was in the full makeup and it was just kind of staring at himself in the mirror. And it really impacted him I mean, because obviously he'd been burned his face has been burnt really by fire so I guess putting on all that makeup and stuff really does something to your head. What's up turbo? Yeah, I know I know you. I know you. turbos in he's a proud anti master. He's putting in the chat there. That's That's fine. Just don't go to my school or anywhere near my family. Appreciate that. Anyway, I'm almost home. So I told you guys this will be short, but people said they'd like to hear something other than nothing. So that's all good. So anyway, I'm gonna let you guys go. I hope you enjoyed the very short show and maybe we'll do this again. This is Shane R. Monroe passenger seat radio. We'll see you next time. Take care, everybody.
