Passenger Seat Radio Episode 2020-07-28

Hey everybody, this is Shane R. Monroe. You are in the passenger seat with me passenger seat radio. It is Tuesday, July 28 2020. And you are parked in my driveway in the passenger seat for passenger seat radio. Yes, ah, Tuesday I thought we'd do a quickie show. I've got a little bit of time here. But I thought, Hey, now let's do a show. So we're gonna do a show about that. Okay, let's see here. Um, hang on. What the hell's going on here? I did something weird with my tablet. Hang on. There we go. Lenovo gotten some weird split screen mode and I had to get the hell out of there. But I think we got it figured out now. How's everybody doing? So things are pretty quiet. I guess a quick date for what's going on from the school covid scenario. The dice art school district and most school districts here in Phoenix have decided that they are going to delay in person learning until October 17. So that's good. That means that my wife and my son will be protected at least a few more months. See if we can get some things under control and, and maybe give the schools time to get stuff figured out. So I'm very happy about that. She saw us to go in in person, but not with kids there. So they're talking about possibly having the teachers teach from their classroom or go in certain days out of the week, just to have a presence at the school. I don't know if that's to a piece parents who think that the teachers are sitting at home dicking around all day, I don't know. So all I know is that my wife's not going to be stuck in a classroom full of 40 people shoved into a room despite the fact that they're not supposed to be So that's good. That puts me a little more on a little more at ease less on edge. So, so this is funny. So my wife, my wife wanted to do digital lesson planning, right? Well, that's the whole deal. Everyone's sort of having to work remote right? So ages ago, she started using the smart board at school. This is the this the white SMART Board, as you draw on the board, it translates into a digital file, you can then share that digital file. If you remember, right, we got the echo pen, which would record as you were writing and she could record her voice that had problems with it too, because we didn't have the latest and greatest and the software was buggy as hell, whatever. So we've had some interesting challenges. Well, apparently smartboard technologist smart technologies has something called the airline It is essentially a portable SMART Board. Now, of course, they don't make these anymore. So if you want one, you got to go to eBay. So we ordered one on eBay used, obviously, it's used, we ordered a used one. And we did this week that we did this probably two months ago, because she wanted to have time to start working on her lesson planning. So she was doing curriculum. So we waited and we waited and we waited and we waited. Of course, you know, eBay says I'll just give it a few more days. And if you don't hear anything back, we'll intercede. All we have to let this seller responds we need another week, whatever. So longer story short, there we just, I just bought a second one, right? It's like we'll eventually get a refund for this one. But in the meantime, let's order a different another one, right, so we found another seller, there's twice as much money was 50 bucks instead of 25. But, so she got that in and it turns out that the battery wouldn't hold the charge but if you've plugged it into the Computer directly. It'll work but there's something about the pen, the pen tracking that doesn't seem to work. There's not a battery in there. What a mess, right? And so she's like, I really want some sort of a tablet where I can actually do my lesson planning the way I'm sort of gotten used to doing it, which is digitally. And so, walk Am I know, is a big tablet manufacturer. And recently they released a couple of, you know, you hear walking me think four or $500 tablets, but they've really been trying to downsize and reach other markets. And I knew they had when well under 100 bucks. I thought it was more like 50 bucks. But we found one on Amazon for 7999. But it was gonna be like a week to get here. And my wife is already burdened. She's already burned weeks and weeks of time that she wanted to do lesson planning. So we looked around just adding just out of curiosity whether or not someplace local had it we could get them to match with Amazon well I look at Best Buy and Best Buys got 179 99 I'm sorry 9999 rather, but we can match we can get them to match for 7999 now Best Buy's are actually open now so it's not just curbside when it's curbside and you got to send somebody into price match it's a whole nother deal but Best Buy was open there's like nobody in there was a ghost town which is perfect so I don't want to go anywhere there's any more than like five people. And that's about how many employees there were. So I go down. I know the drill. I've got it. I've got a screenshot of the Amazon price ships and sold by Amazon 7999 Excuse me. So I go down there. I've got the ADD. They've pulled the item I've already paid for it. So now they've got a lot to refund me when they price match. I hate that nonsense because it takes days for them to refund you so I go down and, you know, there's two there's two, you know, clerks behind the desk and I get one the other one's going on our lunch break or whatever the other one comes up and I'm like, Yeah, I need to pick up a tablet. I have a you know, I paid for it you know, last name and or, or whatever the hell she asked me for. And so she went to get it and she brought it back and I said, I am going to get a price match on that she's like, okay, that's fine. And she's, she's like, So who are we price matching with? I said Amazon and she goes shipped and sold and I said, Yeah, you hear I got a picture for you. And I showed her a picture of it on Amazon 7999 Welcome whatever the name of the the sub name of it is interceptor. Whatever it was some some kind of, you know, in this may be envious or something. I don't know. I think it'd be with an eye. But and so she's. And she's got, she's got like these fingernails. Now. I'm not a big fingernail person. And I can't tell if she's attractive or not. I just got a big old Fat mask on. But her fingernails while they're definitely too long for me got those lady finger things going on. But they were this cool shade of purple. And she had this eyeshadow or this eye makeup that matched her that match these purple nails. I mean, it was it was obvious that it was done intentionally. And I thought it was a pretty cool match. And I said, Hey, you know, I really I really like your fingernails. I like that color that purples. Really? That looks really good. He's like, Oh, thanks. And so click, like Click, click, click, click, click. And she goes, she goes, Okay, well, I need to get a manager over for the price match. I'm like, okay, that's fine, whatever. So she calls over and we're just sitting there. I mean, literally, I don't know what, listen, there's nobody else in the store. What's the manager up to? You can be doing anything. So we're waiting and we're waiting. And I look I pick up the box. You know, I'm kind of just looking at it right? What am I buying here? So I'm looking at the box. I'm a tactile guy. What can I tell you? And I see on the box there's a Bluetooth symbol I'm like, shit. I asked my wife specifically if it was okay if it was wired, because that's the one I found. That's the one I saw at Amazon. And I'm like, shit, I wonder, I wonder if this is the wireless version. And I wonder if it's actually 99 bucks, you'd expect to pay more for the wireless version and the wired version. And so I say to her, I said, Hey, you know, I'm kind of concerned, I'm thinking maybe they Tim, maybe this is the wrong one. The one that that I was price matching was the the wired edition. And this is obviously Bluetooth. I'm assuming it's wire wireless. And, and can you check on the website to see if, you know, this is the wrong one. And so she looks it up? And she goes, Oh, yeah, I see the $79 when we've got those in stock, too. And I said, Well, I said, I don't think I need the wireless version. I said, it's no big deal. Listen, I'm on my lunch break. I've got to get back. I've got 101 o'clock meeting. I've got a meet. I said. So if it's if it's quick, quick, just go ahead and change it out. And I'll take the seven Dollar one, and there won't be any price matching at all going on. And so she's like, and she's like, Well, you know, I'm trying to think I tend to remember in my head, what the what the what the conversation was. But essentially, she's like, well, it's no big deal, you'll get this one for 7999. What? I'm getting a little lost here. Well, the manager, she, so she buzzes the manager back saying, you know, you know, customers on a lunch break, he's got to get back. And so the guy comes running over and I'm sitting there kind of going. This is not the right one, the manager will catch it, the manager is going to look at it, he's gonna do this skew, and he's gonna make sure that it's the right one. And then he'll say, No, this is the $99 one. If you want the $79 one, we'll go get it for you. So I'm just expecting the manager to do the right thing. So he so he comes over and I'm like, Oh, hey, you know, sorry for the rush. I just got one o'clock meaning I better get back. No, no problem. Nope. I'm just a price match and I'm like, Yeah, yeah, just a price match. It's like, okay, you're all set. And I'm like, that's it. It's all nothing else. He's like, nope. Have a nice day. Like, alright, so I'm thinking to myself and you know list. I've walked out of fries with some free stuff because they didn't bring it up or something. And I just kept walking because it's fries. For some reason at Best Buy. I started feeling guilty about getting a $20 more tablet than what I obviously paid for. But, but I'm like, you know what? I'm in too big of a hurry at this point. I could probably make this right but I got to get out of here. I gotta get back in. My wife's really counting on this than me to have this thing back to her today. So I leave the store and I'm and I get the Bing from my phone saying that it has been picked up and I'm like, okay, So if they failed a price match I'm in the clear if they do price match whatever I guess I'm just gonna just gonna have to go with it. So I wait and I wait and I see nothing. There's no you know, refund coming because usually you know privacy.com will pay me back and say Hey, good news you got a refund coming right? If they debited back that $20 difference. So I'm thinking okay, well we'll just let it ride. I mean I got $100 tablet and I paid 100 bucks so whatever. So I get home I explain to my wife what happens and I said I don't and she goes well did they did they price match I'm like, I don't know. I haven't seen any return yet. So we'll just assume it didn't match but you know, now you get the wireless version. So have fun. So later on like eight hours later, I get another I get a thank you for your purchase from Best Buy. So not just the items been picked up to be Follow up. Thank you for your purchase and click here for order details. So I look at the order details. And somehow they've charged me $84 for the tablet. Right? So not 99 not 79 but $84 plus tax. I was thinking was just taxed. I'm like, wait a minute, so it was like, it was like 88 or something, whatever it was after tax, but what the hell? This is so weird. Well, now let's just wait and see what comes back from. Let's see what comes back from privacy.com. Right. So let's see what the refund actually comes back because this makes no sense whatsoever. So it took probably 24 hours before it came back and it's like, you know who you've got to refund. That's exactly what the email says. Woohoo. You have a refund coming something like that. And it's like you know, Best Buy credit of 60 dollars. I'm like, so what the hell transpired? So I still got a great deal. It paid for the tax. I got it right away I got a better unit. But I still pay $5 more Somehow, I just I haven't been able to solve that mystery. You know, this is a job for Scooby and the gang you know? Why? Anyway, so? I don't know, but I thought it was weird enough that I should talk about it here. weird ass stuff that goes on. Only in my life. But anyway, so she got her tablet and all this happy. So let's see. Uh, what do I have next? Well, let's talk about famous deaths. Geez, people are dropping like flies right now on COVID related I'm talking about Regis philomon since the last show, Regis Philbin and Olivia de Havilland who a lot of people don't know I mean, I don't even know why. I know her. I think it's because in one of my drama classes, we had to like, study her. So she was one of the original Gone with the Wind. She's one of the original gun with the wind actresses. She was like, 104 when she died. That's nuts. So, you know, this wasn't a matter of you know, died at 47 or something crazy like this. And then of course, we got to talk about the guy that actually meant something. I mean, we just fill up and I mean, I don't know any of these people personally. But I'm big fan of this actor. So I wanted to kind of give him a proper send off from the passenger seat radio point of view. And that's the actor john Saxon. JOHN Saxon may not know the name, but I guarantee you if you see the guy was like, Oh, dude, that guy. He's in everything he was in. He was in all sorts of stuff. But the stuff that I remember him from of course, that we will eulogize here is he was of course Nancy's father. Nightmare on Elm Street. If you want to go back a little further though, he was in he was also in Beverly Hills Cop three, just kind of fun. He was the head of security there. And and he was a like a fin bot. He wasn't an actual fanboy, but he was a robot that kicked Lee Majors his ass in the $6 million man. And Saxon was a he was a contract player for universal. So like a lot of actors and actresses back then, in that day and age, universal like, you know, all big studios had players on contracts. They had actors that essentially they were paid to sell. I understand it. Now. I'm not an actor, not professionally, did a lot in high school in college but nothing professional. As I understand it, these people are paid a certain amount of money. And basically, they're on a contract. So they're like 1099 for universal studios are Universal Pictures, whoever they were back then they've changed names a few times. But essentially, when they needed guy x or girl Why they had this cavalcade of contract players to pick from. And that's why certain individuals constantly show up in these in these TV shows and movies that are produced by the same studio because they've already got the actors. They've got the stock there. I mean, essentially, it's just it's a pool. It's a it's a talent pool, and they pull them out and they shove them in wherever they need them. And so john Saxon, he was definitely the contract player that was pretty much in everything. But it was kind of neat, you know, he was in them. He was in all the Heather langenkamp Nightmare on Elm Street movies, right? So one, three and seven, which I was That was kind of cool that they got him back for that last movie. You know, they got most of the staff of the original cast back, if nothing else just for cameos but yeah, so it was kind of sad to see john Saxon go. I mean, obviously it's kind of weird. You know, we've got this we've got this visual of people like you think well, he was in the last nightmare announcements that wasn't that long ago. But yeah, it was that long ago. And he still looks like john Saxon in Nightmare on Elm Street. The new West Cravens new nightmare nightmare. No straight seven, right? But he didn't look as much like himself. We passed on right? I mean, not just because he was, you know, dying or whatever, but it's just, you know, he aged. It's just, it's, it's crazy. That, you know, you've you've got these people sort of, sort of frozen in time. You know, I was watching some Lee Majors Lindsay Wagner convention. q&a type keynote speaker stuff. And you know, we majors barely looks like we majors anymore, right? I mean, this guy was like sex symbol stud. He was in a bunch of successful shows, you know, movies, whatever. I mean, the guy was a big big deal and now you know he's running around doing cons answering. You can tell Hey, oh, Bruce Miller, Jim. So you can tell you know, you know, we may just like tired of doing conventions but the guy's got to eat to write and works not lining up for him. So but it's kind of weird though. We see like, you know, Linda Carter, you know, Wonder Woman is coming out on blu ray, the original Wonder Woman. TV show is coming out on blu ray later this week. Hey, Mike Ward, Roxanne. What's up brother? Mike Lorraine, technically, but we we affectionately call it more drama. So Wonder Woman on blu rays coming out. I can't wait to see what that looks like. That'll be here on Thursday. We talked about the debt, talk about the $6 million stuff I thought I did. Let me see here. Let me look at my list of crap list. Oh crap. Yeah, I did. I talked about that already good when I was talking about the same thing again. So I'm really curious to see if the Wonder Woman transfers and cleanup look just as good because I know that Amazon Prime has upscaled HD versions of Wonder Woman and I'm wondering if they're the same stock because the upscaled ones look pretty good but not like that. $6 million. Man action. I'll tell you that. Yeah, so it's like the same thing with like Lynda Carter and these, these key figures in your, in your history. They, you always expect them to look like that. It's sort of like seeing the guy that plays the bad guy on Cobra Kai. What's his name? William. What's his last name? Damn it. I hate I hate aging. Am I My memory is dropping these very important things. I know Ralph macho, but I don't remember the other guy. Anyway, you know when I first saw when I first laid eyes on Him in Cobra Kai, when when, when season one of that came out, the first episode came out, I'm like, Holy hell this guy has. Hey, Paul, what's up, man? Well, I'm in my car. And I'm connected to my Wi Fi. zabka Thank you. And see that's an easy name. I should remember that. Mike chimed in. Was that good? Yeah, so I'm in my car right outside my house. I've got a nice new a fairly new router now. I'm on the I'm on the five gigahertz and the the literally I'd say that the router, although there's one exterior wall, it's like 30 feet away. So it's nice and close. So nice and crystal clear coming in from the driveway. But I saw you know William zabka. And I'm like, oh, holy shit. He hit the wall. And like, but over time, he sort of normalized isn't that weird? Like, I watched the You know, because I'm a huge fan of Cobra Kai can't wait for season three, huge fan. And after a while he normalized I was able to I was able to catch up with him or something. I had this picture in my head of him from just one of the guys and from Karate Kid and, and it took me a while to sort of equalize with the fact that the guy's you know, 50 something years old now. Right. So maybe older. But it's just I thought it was kind of an interesting, sort of an interesting thing, because, you know, they always show john Saxons picture from, like Nightmare on Elm Street, or was the inner the dragon was he in that too? I think they don't ever show the $6 million man stuff, but they show him when he was like in his prime. And, you know, recently I saw one of the obit pictures where it's like, Yeah, well, this is what he looked like, you know, close to being dead. This is what it looked like so well. Damn. But you know what, I think I could have gotten used to it. You know, I think just like Just like, you know, William zabka and, and the other ones I could have I could have adjusted. I could I could have adjusted to see him again. So rest in peace john Saxon, Regis and Olivia de Havilland. Yeah, it's, it's gonna get worse from here. You know, the as me and my fellow middle agers start creeping in, creeping up there, we're going to lose a lot more of these people. And that makes me that makes me sad. makes me sad. So I may have a problem when it comes to physical media. I think I've got a problem. I just got 13 ghosts in, which is a dark Castle 90s horror movie. It is a remake. A lot of people don't realize it. 13 ghosts is a remake House on Haunted hills, a remake House of Wax is a remake. But um, it's one of those you know, I don't I don't tend to be a remake fan. And you guys know this. Those of you listen to me for a long time, I don't like reboots. I don't like reimaginings. I don't like typically speaking, I don't like those things. But I think when you go back and you look at some of these, you know, the black and white classics, the Vincent Price movies and things like that. There is a deliberate generational gap, right? So if you were to go back and look at House on Haunted Hill, I mean, you don't have to watch the movie. Just go back and watch. I mean, YouTube, I did find this on YouTube. There's like scariest scenes from House on Haunted Hill, something like that. And of course, you'll get the new movie a lot, but you'll also see, quote, quote, scary, you know, scary scenes from House on Haunted Hill from 1939 or whatever that movie came out. Maybe it's not that old. But you know, essentially they have a skeleton being pulled along on a string, you know, that pops out of the closet. It's, and you're looking at it going, Wow. I mean, wow, there's there's a huge difference between what that was and I'm not saying that was bad. I mean, let me just preface it. What it was for its time was simply phenomenal. It was supposed to be like the scariest movie ever whatever that was. But the difference between House on Haunted Hill 1939 and House on Haunted Hill 1997 or whatever the difference was. It's, it's it is so disparate. It's, it's essentially a different movie. Right, and there's some considerable changes to it. What I have a problem with is the fact that they've rebooted spider man like 17 times, you know what I'm saying? It's like there's a difference between bringing something up to a technological level or To a movie standard level, it's really hard to explain why certain things pissed me off and other things. Don't. Maybe it's because I had no vested interest in haunted house 1939 edition, right? Maybe I didn't grow up with that. So seeing a newer version of it doesn't piss me off. I don't know, I should be in therapy, I think. But I, I feel different. Let's see, I feel a sense slightly to click physical media, because in 10 years, it will probably be gone. Yeah. But I have a great collection of stuff to watch. I don't have to rely on a streaming service provide Yeah, exactly. Mike. Well, for me, you know, I think it's kind of cool, because, first off, you're getting a lot of extras, right? These aren't just catalog reprints that have been grossly upscaled into HD. These things like what screen factory and arrow and that what's that name of that other one king. Something that King lower Lord or whatever it is that other weird service I've never heard of, but something I'm getting into Crap. These guys aren't just, you know, Paramount and, and universal just re releasing every five years a new DVD cover with the same extras or less extras or, you know, that they're, they're there. They're making these tribute additions, right? They're packing in posters and they're shooting brand new commentaries and there's doing brand new feature reds and they are they're having they're bringing back the actors and the and the and the directors and the producers and the cinematographers and the musicians, right. I mean, there were times when like nobody knew who Danny Elfman was, I mean, they knew the name because it appeared on every Simpsons episode. But now, these people, these people have a legacy now. You know, Robocop is great. I'm pissed off. It was a two k Master, you know, as a 4k Master, but we only got a Blu Ray copy but that's another story. But the attention that they gave the the attention that they gave that release for Robocop was fantastic. And so I got 13 ghosts in pretty much almost anything that Scream Factory is coming out with is stuff that I'm interested in. Now things like graveyard shift. What else came out there was some other new one that just came out that they announced. Hotel Hell, I think was another one. There's a handful of them that just don't. They don't have a Kinect. I don't have a connection with them because I either never saw the movie. I saw it once I saw it on TV. I didn't I didn't have it on an endless loop on a three movie VHS recorder in my bedroom while I was coding on my Commodore 64 you know what I mean? So there's not that pulled like 13 ghosts is relatively relatively new. And you know, they had Shannon Elizabeth and Matthew Lillian's in there and that guy that played monk, whatever whatever that guy's name is it suddenly eludes me he was in Pali he said taco I said taco. Taco taco taco. Great. Well it's not that great of a movie but it's got its moments. But these but they're, they're being treated with such respect. Right? April Fool's Day We talked about that would treat with great respect with the movie deserve to have was finally given to it. You know, seeing that $6 million man so painstakingly clean and beautiful. It it really it's rejuvenating my need to own this stuff to to bring it back. I've got DVDs of this stuff. I've got first run, really crappy, upscaled blu rays of some of this stuff. I'm Good going again, right back to the future is getting another release in October this time in 4k. And guess what? I'll be buying it again. You know many goddamn times I've bought back to the future, the series the trilogy, right. So I had them on VHS. I bought them individually on DVD. I imported the Australian box set trilogy, I bought the American box set trilogy, I bought the re what was it the remember 25th anniversary, whatever that one was, that has the flux capacitor on the front of it. I bought that one. And God helped me I'm going to buy the son of a bitch again, and I'm going to get in 4k. And I'm still trying to decide. Actually I have decided already but I'm starting to have buyer's remorse. there's a there's a an Amazon edition which comes with a little hoverboard replica, right? And the best buy one is a three steelbook edition and each of the steel books has a third of the DeLorean on it. If you haven't seen this already go look at it. So, yes, you know, I'm not one of those steel, steel book fans. I mean, I've got several steel book additions, but there are people that are batshit crazy about steel books. And I'm like, they're cool if it happens to be something I want to buy anyway and I happen to be at the right place at the right time. I'll pick it up. But the there are people that take that to a completely different level. Totally batshit crazy, but this steel book does look pretty damn sharp and I'm going man. So I already pulled the trigger though. I got to preorder it Amazon I could I could cancel it of course. But I probably won't because I love that little hoverboard and I want it I want to put it up on my shelf. I recently ordered the the Spartacus TV series from stars. They I had purchased that season by season which there's technically four seasons of Spartacus, even though it's technically like, like three and a half. But yeah, three and a half because there's a half a season in there too. That was sort of a when Andy Whitfield got sick. They did this sort of prequel, partial season. We've talked about this before, but I bought each of the seasons individually. Well, somebody pointed out Hamilton books.com I got on there. And I was looking through their deals and close outs or whatever. They had the limited edition Anchor Bay full collection with extras that comes in this big box set. I mean, big box big box. Inside is a gorgeous statue. Like a big Giant like, one foot by half a foot by three quarters of a foot tall statue of Spartacus slaying some, you know, Roman soldier on st cheryan. And it's so cool in the back of it flips up and you slide in the booklet full of blu rays for the entire see. Amazing. I got that for 50 bucks. I mean, that's like a no brainer. I spent a lot more buying those stars discs, I don't know what I'm gonna end up doing with them. Now, I'll probably end up giving them to friends or somebody else who wants to own them. But so I started, I started looking ahead, well, what the next I'm going to segue into the next piece of this. I have a tendency of pre ordering more than once. It's a very bad habit of mine. I see a movie that's immediately available for pre order, and I pre order it and I forget about it because it's months away. Right and then all of a sudden it'll pop back into the news and I'll be like, Oh shit, I better get my hands on that. So I have I have double ordered pet cemetery to urban legends, and at least one other one. And of course 13 ghosts I had also double ordered. So I have 13 ghosts with rolled poster sitting in a box in my room that I'm trying to decide what I'm going to do with it. So I decided to go back and my wife said, Why don't you keep a list of everything you preorder and I'm like, that's not even right. Of course. I should be doing that though. Well, because you think, well, I'll just pre order from Amazon just go look at Amazon, but that's not true. I order from screen factory I order from that King lorber whatever the hell it's called. I order from Amazon. I order from whoever's got the goods. Right. So I spent some time this afternoon traveling my regular haunts, trying to decide what I had pre ordered, and I ordered pre ordered some other stuff. So I thought you guys might enjoy hearing my pre order list as it stands right now. We already talked about Back to the Future 4k so that's on the list. Tales from the dark side the movie, which by the way, I have pre ordered that one twice as well. So I actually got I caught I caught that in time to cancel one of those so I'm not going to have an extra Tales from the dark side of the movie. Got that I love that James remar and Ray Don Chung the whole gargoyle thing. love that. I love it. Love it, love it. Let's see, I recently pre ordered private parts on blu ray as well as vampire and Brooklyn on blu ray. Both of them look like feature you know, feature lists catalog reprints from Paramount but they're 10 bucks apiece so it's not like you're paying 40 bucks and not getting anything good. I got go ship coming. mallrats pre ordered the special the new super special edition Kevin Smith put together the Wonder Woman Raise which we talked about. My wife's a huge Eureka fan. And that is coming out in a couple of months. The entire series. The entire five season run for like 43 bucks on Amazon. No brainer. I also pre ordered unforgettable real man the associate more catalog titles, not a ton of extras on those. The movie gotcha. I love me some gotcha. That was. That is one of my all time guilty pleasure movies. Anthony Daniels, who played Yeah, he was in pet cemetery too. He was in Revenge of the Nerds. Of course. I love I love gotcha. And my son's almost at the age where I'm going to be cool with him seeing it. And then last on the list, which is a really bizarre ass movie. It's called scenes from the class struggle in Beverly Hills. Unbelievable cast. On frickin believable cast like everybody, everybody who knows him, I mean, everybody in this movie, you know, I mean, Wallace Sean's in there and Jacqueline besets in there and Ed Begley Jr. is in there and like the you look at the look at the cast list here and going, dude, did everybody lose a bet at the same time and they all have to be in this weird ass movie. And the movie itself is Bizarro as hell anyway. It's essentially a class struggle between the hired help and a bunch of rich people. Right? And essentially, there are, they make bets. There's bets about the the to the guy that plays chakotay was it Robert rubber belt Beltran, is that the guys named Robert beltrame, who played chick fil a, and Voyager? Like two people maybe have seen that other than me on here. But yeah, so he's one of the guys and the other guy. I can't, his name is completely eluding me. But they essentially bet each other Because one's a one's a driver for one rich bitch and then the other ones like the gardener for the other rich bitch, and so they make a bet. a sizable bet that they can bag the other guy's boss, right the other guy's rich, snooty wife, or which which snooty boss, right? And then Meanwhile, there's like five different storylines going on in this movie. It's really hard to keep track of everything. But it's a really Bizarro movie. And I don't, I'm not even sure why I pre ordered it. But I've watched it a lot. And I, I'm not sure why, but I want to know why I watched it a lot. And I'm going to wait till I get the disc in the mail. To find out why I'm why it has such a strong pole. For me to watch it other than the fact that like everybody in there, you know, it's crazy. So yeah, those are all on preorder. So I might have a problem with physical media. Man. Well look at it this way. Um, when I die, my kids will have, you know if they understand what they have, they may be able to make some decent scratch out of my rather large collection. My daughter, Cassini understands physical media, so she will probably keep a good a good handful of all of this stuff. Let's see how much time Oh, I'm at 38. So let me let me tidy this up a little bit. Let me finish off with so I love Mortal Kombat. I like the franchise. I love the franchise actually, the first movie I really enjoyed that a lot. I've seen that far more times than I care to admit. The second one and not so much. But you know, they've been talking about re you know, rebooting that IP for 20 years at least. Maybe more damage might be a lot longer than that 2030 years now. But, you know, I got into let's see a bunch of Mortal Kombat games. I kind of skipped there was a handful of them that just didn't work out for me. I didn't play any of those. The subzero games are the scorpion. You know, games. I got back into Mortal Kombat, I think with MK nine. And then of course, Mortal Kombat 10. I played a lot of, but I bought Mortal Kombat 11 on the switch. And I played through part of the storyline, but I don't remember if I even had a pro controller at that point. And let's just be honest, playing. Playing Mortal Kombat with joi cons is rough. It's but but it's impressive. You know, I wanted to support these big publishers supporting the switch so I bought the game on cartridge. Very impressive again for being on switch. It's amazing. But I played it for a little while, and I dropped out. Well, a few months ago, they released a DLC pack that had Robocop and the Terminator, right. That's sort of a weird Mortal Kombat thing, right? They suck in you know Freddy Krueger and they bring in these these nice sort of horror characters. They bring them into Mortal Kombat. Totally. Makes no sense at all, but why not? And then I heard that Peter Weller had actually done the Robocop stuff for them. And I'm like, wow, of course aren't Arnold Schwarzenegger did not do the Terminator stuff, but they got a pretty good sound alike. I mean, most people would probably be fooled. I of course was not true Arnold fans would not believe it is not Arnold. He went to the choppa he did not go to the game. But so I saw I saw some video of some guy playing this on YouTube and I'm like, damn it. Now I want to play this. So I've been kind of holding out until I saw a deal because oddly enough, you know, Mortal Kombat nine and 10 they were liking the $5 $5 Digital bargain bin like in six months. I picked up I think Mortal Kombat 10. I picked up three different times on three platforms for no more than 10 bucks apiece. But for some reason, Mortal Kombat 11 has managed to keep its value and it's still it's still going for a good price. Then of course, the DLC, there's two DLC packs for it. Well, this last week Green Man gaming had a deal where essentially, you could buy, see if I got this right, you could buy the core game, the first pack. I mean by that a bunch of different configurations but I worked out the best way. I bought the core game for $31 and then the two expansion packs were like $20 something like that I can't anyway came up to like 52 bucks. So I got the core game. All the expansions currently available, which gave you additional storyline plus additional characters plus additional this plus additional that bah bah bah bah bah. So on Sunday, about 10 o'clock in the morning 11 o'clock in the morning, I started playing Mortal Kombat 11 the storyline story mode. And I played that until seven or eight o'clock at night I put nine hours straight into that game. game playing the storyline and the DLC all the way through front to back top to bottom with you know, I had a meal in there somewhere, but that was about it. But I was initially it felt a little comic booky. I mean more than Mortal Kombat normally does. But listen it's got all sorts of time rich shit now if anything that's time related time travel time ripping, time skewing. Fuck Sign me up I'm in. So I got sucked into the story. And in the DLC, I won't reveal anything in particular but in the DLC. Shang sung returns right Shang sung was the the antagonist from the original Mortal Kombat movie that was supposedly running the tournament, blah blah blah. Also goes from the video game lore as well of course. And then you saw like shale con for like two seconds at the end of the at the end of the first movie right after they defeated Chang sung Well, so I'm playing this and you know, I'm watching the cinematics. I'm playing the game and I'm going dude. Shang sung sounds just like the original dude. I mean he sounds they got a really good sound alike to be Shang Sung. He looks, you know, he's got the look, he's got the the, the voice and you know Is it is it him? And so at some point in the game I stopped when I had dinner and I pulled it up and it's like yeah, holy shit they got the original actor for Mortal Kombat one to be the voice of Shang song in the DLC for Mortal Kombat 11. It's like, this is so damn cool. And you know, I can see him I can see him, you know, once I could connect his voice, I could see the guy. So it was very, very cool. I liked it a lot. And I don't I haven't gotten sucked in to a game for a while. Like a lot of people around me these days. Were kind of feeling a gaming slump. And I'm not sure what's causing that maybe it's the the lockdown. Maybe it's already Age. I don't know but it's just like my son's like hey, let's play Overwatch I'm like yeah Come on dad You're wasting your battle pass let's play call a demon like a you know still feel like it man but you know I really wanted to play Robocop versus Terminator in this thing and then I did that of course I shot some video and stuff but then it's like well let's see if the story is any good Next thing I know nine hours later I'm finishing up the story so there you go that's that's my my video game. Catch up for now. So we shall see. All right, well listen. It's been 45 minutes I should probably go in my wife is going back to work tomorrow as we talked about earlier even though there's no students or anything. First day jitters are always heavy for her so I need to go in and and be the good husband and cuddle in and spend time with her because we haven't been apart. For months like four months. We haven't been away from each For more than a handful of hours at a time, I mean, it's it's gonna be, it'd be a weird thing for us. Anyhow. All right, guys. Well, I hope you enjoyed the show. We might have another show later this week if I can come up with enough topics. This is Shane R. Monroe passing your seat radio. We'll see you next time. Take care, buddy.
